Status Report: Arsenic Testing at Fort Reno Park
On May 14, the National Park Service issued a release stating that arsenic concentrations had been discovered at Fort Reno park and that the park would be closed until further testing was conducted. Upon this release, DDOE was designated as the lead agency in coordinating the District’s response. Full Text
2008 Open Season for Striped Bass Fishing Begins May 16
Open season for striped bass fishing will begin on May 16, and end on December 31, 2008. A valid 2008 District of Columbia sport fishing license is required to fish in DC waterways. A license may be obtained from participating vendors in the Washington Metropolitan area. Full Text
District Government Receives Award for Work with Green Roofs
The District of Columbia has received the "Civic Award of Excellence" from Green Roofs for Healthy Cities. The District placed seventh among major cities in North America, with more than 55,000 square feet of new green roofs installed in 2007. Full Text
Green Summer Job Program is now hiring supervisors
Green Summer will place teams of students within District neighborhoods in order to complete clean-ups, assess environmental conditions and resources and reach out to residents about environmental programs and services. Full Text
