On May 14, the National Park Service issued a release stating that arsenic concentrations had been discovered at Fort Reno park and that the park would be closed until further testing was conducted. Open season for striped bass fishing will begin on May 16, and end on December 31, 2008. A valid 2008 District of Columbia sport fishing license is required to fish in DC waterways. A license may be obtained from participating vendors in the Washington Metropolitan area.Full Text
The District of Columbia has received the "Civic Award of Excellence" from Green Roofs for Healthy Cities. The District placed seventh among major cities in North America, with more than 55,000 square feet of new green roofs installed in 2007.Full Text
